
Event Highlights
The XXXV Annual Group Meeting (AGM) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)–All India Coordinated Research Project on Spices (AICRP on Spices) commenced on 15 October 2024 at the College of Agriculture, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU), Hisar, Haryana, bringing together eminent scientists from spice research centres across India.
The programme began with the ICAR song and Saraswati Vandana, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Rajbir Garg , Director of Research, CCS HAU. Dr. D. Prasath , Project Coordinator, presented an overview and progress report of AICRP on Spices for 2023–24.
Dr. Sudhakar Pandey , ADG (Horticultural Sciences), ICAR, congratulated the community on the 50th anniversary of ICAR-IISR and AICRP on Spices , while Dr. N. Krishna Kumar emphasized the need for a roadmap for safe spice production to meet international standards.
Dr. Vinay Bhardwaj and Dr. V. A. Parthasarathy highlighted the importance of modern breeding approaches and advanced genotypic tools, and Dr. R. Dinesh outlined key recommendations of the Quinquennial Review Team.
The presidential address was delivered by Dr. V. R. Kamboj , Vice-Chancellor, CCS HAU. The chief guest, Dr. S. K. Singh , DDG (Horticulture), ICAR, underscored India's global leadership in the spice sector. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. S. K. Tehlan .

Best AICRPS Centre Award
The AICRP Best Centre Award was presented to NM College of Agriculture, Navsari , in recognition of outstanding contributions to spice research and development.
Golden Jubilee Celebration
The 35th AGM coincided with the 50th anniversary (Golden Jubilee) of ICAR-IISR and AICRP on Spices — a landmark milestone celebrating five decades of dedicated spice research in India.
Publications Released
11 new publications were released during the session, furthering the dissemination of cutting-edge spice research knowledge to scientists, farmers, and stakeholders.
